Peer Review
Peer Review Process and Policy
Introduction
Research and Analysis Journals (RAJ) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic excellence through a rigorous, fair, and transparent peer review process. Our peer review policy ensures that all published articles meet the criteria of originality, methodological rigor, and relevance to the journal’s scope. This page outlines the peer review process, the roles and responsibilities of those involved, and the principles guiding our evaluation of submissions.
- Overview of the Peer Review Process
RAJ employs a double-blind peer review process, where both the authors’ and reviewers’ identities are concealed to ensure impartiality and objectivity. The process is managed through our Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform and typically follows these steps:
- Submission: Authors submit their manuscripts via the OJS portal, ensuring compliance with our Author Guidelines.
- Initial Editorial Assessment: The editorial team conducts a preliminary review to assess the manuscript’s suitability, originality, and adherence to submission requirements. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be desk-rejected with feedback.
- Assignment to Reviewers: Suitable manuscripts are assigned to at least two independent, qualified reviewers with expertise in the relevant field.
- Peer Review: Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on its academic merit, methodology, clarity, and contribution to the field. They provide detailed feedback and a recommendation (e.g., accept, minor revisions, major revisions, or reject).
- Editorial Decision: The editor reviews the peer review reports and makes a final decision. Authors receive reviewer feedback and a decision letter, typically within 1 week of submission.
- Revisions (if applicable): Authors revise their manuscript based on reviewer feedback and resubmit for further evaluation, if required.
- Final Decision and Publication: Accepted manuscripts undergo copyediting, formatting, and proofreading before being published online with a unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI).
- Principles of Peer Review
RAJ adheres to the following principles to ensure a fair and robust peer review process:
- Impartiality: Manuscripts are evaluated solely on their academic merit, without bias based on authors’ identity, nationality, gender, or institutional affiliation.
- Confidentiality: All manuscripts and review reports are treated as confidential. Reviewers must not share or use manuscript content without permission.
- Timeliness: Reviewers are expected to complete reviews within the agreed timeframe (typically 1-2 weeks) to ensure efficient publication timelines.
- Constructive Feedback: Reviewers provide specific, evidence-based, and constructive feedback to help authors improve their work, even if the manuscript is rejected.
- Ethical Standards: The peer review process aligns with our Publication Ethics and Integrity Policy and COPE guidelines. Any suspected ethical issues (e.g., plagiarism, data fabrication) are investigated promptly.

RAJ maintains a diverse pool of reviewers from global institutions to ensure broad perspectives. Reviewers are invited via the OJS platform and provided with clear instructions and evaluation criteria.
- Types of Peer Review Decisions
After review, manuscripts receive one of the following decisions:
- Accept: The manuscript is suitable for publication with no or minor changes.
- Minor Revisions: The manuscript requires small changes to address specific issues.
- Major Revisions: The manuscript has potential but requires significant revisions and re-review.
- Reject: The manuscript does not meet RAJ’s standards for quality, originality, or relevance.
Authors receive detailed reviewer comments and guidance for revisions, if applicable.
- Transparency and Accountability
RAJ is committed to transparency in the peer review process:
- Authors are informed of the review status and expected timelines.
- Reviewer identities are protected to maintain impartiality.
- Editorial decisions are documented and communicated clearly to authors.
- Appeals or complaints about the peer review process can be submitted to editor@rajournals.in for review by the editorial board.
- Handling Ethical Concerns
If reviewers or editors suspect ethical issues (e.g., plagiarism, data manipulation, or authorship disputes), the matter is investigated following our Publication Ethics and Integrity Policy. Actions may include rejecting the manuscript, issuing corrections, or retracting published articles, as per COPE guidelines.
- Open Access and Peer Review
As an open-access journal, RAJ ensures that peer-reviewed articles are freely accessible to a global audience. The peer review process is independent of any publication fees (if applicable) to maintain editorial integrity.
